New Fashion Goodies: Boots, Coat, Jeans & More

It's been way too long since I last did a nice, lighthearted "look at the stuff I got!" post, AMIRIGHT?! Most of the below items are things that have actually been in my wardrobe for a couple of months now, but - heyooo - I am a little far behind with blogging things. Perhaps now is the first time that my mood has been conducive to sharing something as carefree and brainless as a goodies blog... so let's ride that wave before it dries up, shall we?!

HERE WE GO!

Roxy Mariposa Boots
I shit you not, it took me about 3 years to find a pair of fashionable boots that suited both my tastes and my needs. When I spotted these little ladies at my local Off Broadway Shoes, I figured that they must be too good to be true - that they would end up being uncomfortable or something. BUT THEY'RE NOT! I have walked so many miles in these boots, and they've never given me a single bit of trouble. I'm even thinking very seriously about buying a second pair as a backup. I love the light fleecy lining, the slouchy feel and the rustic looking buckles

Wait Up! Boot
These boots were an impulse buy thanks to a flash 50% off sale from Modcloth. Riding the high of the successful Roxy boots, I simply couldn't resist getting a new pair of black boots to accompany the new brown ones. These Wait Up boots are a littttle bit big on me, but adorable nonetheless. I love the buttons up the side and the woven lining that pokes out of the top of the boot.

MIA Clarissa Flats
Lady Confession:  In general, I am not a fan of flats. They just don't do it for me, style-wise, nor do I really care for the way they look on me. However, recognizing that they are a handy thing to own in the event of an "oh my god, these heels are KILLING me" moment, I finally caved and bought some recently. Mind you, I still don't like them very much. But as far as flats go, these sparkly rhinestone-covered black ones seemed as inoffensive as possible.

Danton Coat from BB Dakota
Ok so I don't mean to startle you, but people have been pooping themselves over this jacket everytime I wear it. Friends, family members, complete strangers... even blind people can sense that I'm wearing an amazing coat and give me compliments on it. It's a woven wool blend with a generously sized fold-over collar, a cape-like feel, an ombre knit, and nice deep pockets (which, believe it or not, were missing from my last "nice" winter coat). I can also pull up the collar around my face when I get too chilly. This jacket has definitely been the standout MVP purchase of the last couple of months.

Merona Tunic
My sister Mallory got me this sweater tunic for Christmas and DAY-UM did she hit the nail on the head!! She totally gets my style and always picks out things I like. This tunic is a knit of speckled white and black with slim fitting arms and a SIMPLY delicious cowl neck. I'm obsessed with it. The only problem will be trying to keep myself from wearing it every single day.

Merona Knit Lace Infinity Scarf
Mallory also gave me this infinity scarf, except this one was a birthday present. Believe it or not, my first infinity scarf! And goes perfectly with my white and black Danton coat.

Old Navy Rockstar JeansI have a bad feeling that these jeans give me the dreaded "long butt", so I have barely worn them out of the house yet. Maybe if I just do about one million squats, then I'll feel confident enough to wear them.

... and speaking of feeling confident enough to wear something...

DAILYLOOK High Waist Vegan Leather Leggings
So maybe I didn't need to own the shiniest pair of vegan leggings in the world... but I do now, nonetheless. And these are most definitely going to require nerves of steel to wear in public. Or a shot of tequila. I MEAN. AM I SERIOUS WITH THESE THINGS? Where will I even wear pants such as these??? All I can say is that 2015 better have some really weird night clubs in store for me or else these pants are going to give me a raging case of purchase regret.

Ok well there are definitely some items that I've overlooked that aren't being included in this blog, but we've gone far enough haven't we? Let's end with the vegan leggings that may never see the light of day.

Beach Walks, New Shirts + Workouts of the Week

Howwww the heck has your weekend been so far? I hope you've all had plenty of relaxation and productivity, or whatever blend of that makes you feel like your weekend has been successful. I've been crossing some things off my list (if you follow along regularly, you might know that I try to make a to-do list every weekend), taking walks, and buying the occasional "thing" for myself. Because.

My weekend kicked off well with the Friday afternoon news (via mail) that I won't owe anything additional for my 2013 taxes after all! Big "phew" for that one. This was my first year earning contractor income, so it was a bit of mystery for me how those taxes would play out. I'm also happy to report that not only will I not owe any more money, I'll actually still be receiving a nice refund! #HEYOOOO! High fives all around to everyone else who gets some money back this spring. Go shoppin'. Or save that shit. Your choice. (I'll probably do a bit of both.)

Anyway, what else have I been up to the last few days? I took a couple of walks... this one along the beach on Thursday was particularly nice:

Walk along a Vancouver beach

English Bay in Vancouver

View of Downtown Vancouver from Kitsilano Beach

Sailboat in English Bay in front of mountains

Mountains and tankers from beach in Kitsilano
And on Friday night David and I finished off our evening with a sunset beach walk:

I walked downtown a couple times and picked up some new shirts, because my closet isn't full enough yet. (Full disclosure: That was sarcasm.) Seriously though, I had it on good authority that Victoria's Secret was having a sale on their popular v-neck t-shirts, and I a) needed a cute white v-neck that didn't suck, and b) wanted to see what all the hoopla was about with these tees. They definitely ARE cute and have a really flattering fit, so I grabbed two (since the sale was 2 for $34) - a white one and an orchid colored one:

So far I absolutely love them both, and the girl at the counter told me that she owns a few of them too, and that they stand up well to washes.

I also grabbed something that I've been looking for FOREVER: a light-colored chambray button up. You might think that a top like that is completely ubiquitous and not at all difficult to find, but it's been really hard for me to find one that fit me right and didn't have any wacky rogue details like spikes on the collar or weird cowgirl-esque embroidery on it. I got this one from Old Navy after seeing it on a mannequin in one of their window displays. Bonus - it was on sale for $20 (marked down from $39!)

So basically now that I have one of those, things are really going to start happening for me. I CAN FEEL IT!

Yesterday it was raining alllllll day long, so the walk I took downtown yesterday was a wet 'n chilly one.  I originally went into the city looking to get myself a haircut, but the salon I went to was booked up for the day so I made an appointment for Thursday instead. I will take some before and after pictures at the appointment because my hair is loooooong right now, and there's no telling WHAT could happen to it on Thursday!

Today is looking like a GORGEOUS day so far. The sky (from what I can see from my living room window) is completely blue and the sun is shining. Practically bikini season already!!! Just kidding, we're not quite there yet. But David has started wearing his Keens, which means warmer weather is on its way! (His Keens are a bit like Punxsutawney Phil, in that respect.)
